Outdoors
In the summer be entertained with outdoor activities, such as swimming, sailing, wind surfing, water skiing, sea & white-water kayaking, mountain biking, roller blading and hiking. Golfing, fishing and trout fishing are specialties of Nelson. A 15 minute walk brings you to the beautiful and popular Tahunanui beach.
The Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand's smallest but most visited. It's "doable" as a day trip from Nelson. Drive approximately 1h20 to Kaiteriteri or Marahau & water-taxi into the park where you can kayak, seal swim or hike.

In the winter you can enjoy snowboarding and skiing at the nearby Nelson Lakes National Park at Rainbow Skifield or else you can just relax and enjoy the sensational everchanging vista from the centrally heated lounge.
Crafts & History
Kimberley House is a few minutes walk from the well known Boat Shed Café and other excellent restaurants. A 5 minute drive brings you to central Nelson with many fine restaurants; the Arts and Craft galleries, and Nelson's weekend market. Nelson is the Arts and Crafts and organic produce centre of the South Island.
Wines
The Nelson and Marlborough wine regions are world famous for their wines, particularly Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
